Carnival Cruise Ship
Funnel Signage Design & Implementation

Summary
Flow Tech Australia was engaged by Carnival Cruise Lines to deliver a fast-turnaround engineering and implementation solution for the rebranding of two cruise ships: Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter.
Details
The project involved the removal of existing 8-metre P&O funnel signs and the and installation of new 20-metre-long illuminated Carnival sign. Flow Tech provided end-to-end engineering services as well as fabrication and construction of the aluminium structure supporting the sign.
Process
- To ensure structural integrity under marine conditions calculations were done to account for Ship motions and wind force acting on the new sign.
- Weight change assessments were also conducted to ensure no impacts to vessel stability and compliance.
- 3D scans of the existing funnel structure were utilised to enable CAD design of the integrated framework required to support the 20-metre-long Carnival sign.
- 3D modelling was used to plan rigging arrangements for each ‘Carnival’ letter to be raised to the top of the funnel and secured to the framework.
Delivery
The project demanded precision and speed, with a strict 12-day installation window for four signs across the two ships. Flow Tech successfully completed the design and installation within the allocated timeframe and budget. The client praised the team’s professionalism and attention to detail. Both vessels returned to service with striking new Carnival signage, ready to welcome passengers under their updated brand identity.
